Local TV commercials used to have a personality all their own.

They weren’t always polished, and that was part of the charm. You saw familiar places, local faces and businesses you actually knew — sometimes with jingles or sales pitches that stuck in your head for years.

Here are two from 1979 that take us right back: a Dodge City commercial from Yorkville and an ad for the Unwind Inn in Rome.
