History Along the Mohawk: Pins and Tinkling Cones
A visit to Fort Stanwix and Marinus Willett Visitor Center is always interesting. Some of the smallest artifacts represent some of the most personal items from the Revolutionary war era. Found in and around the ditch encircling Fort Stanwix, clothing pins and tinkling cones sewn onto ceremonial clothing of the Haudenosaunee, offer a glimpse into the lives of the people who lives, traded, and gathered there.
