Where to Buy Plants 

As a rule, avoid box stores and ask about pesticide and fungicide use if you shop at a nursery that doesn’t specialize in native plants.

Local Nurseries Closest to the Utica Area

  • Wild Ginger FarmWest Winfield  10% discount for dues-paying WOMV members, open Friday, Saturdays, and Sundays, 1-5pm and by appointment.  Specializing in straight species, local ecotype plants, their selection is diverse,  with something for every yard or garden,  and Alyssa and Elizabeth are knowledgeable plantswomen who can advise on your selection. Check them out at 211 County Road 21, West Winfield.
  • Common Thread CSALake Moraine. This is Common Thread’s second year of growing and selling a variety of flowering native perennials along with their food farm.
  • Grant’s Native Plants A new backyard business in Durhamville. Plants are grown from locally locally sourced seed or from Prairie Moon Nursery. Open Saturday, May 9th and  Sunday, May 10th from 9am to 3pm. Also by appointment.
